Leisure Time® Calcium Booster
A spa calcium hardness booster is a chemical (usually calcium chloride) that raises calcium levels in hot tub water to prevent corrosion, etching, and foaming, protecting equipment and surfaces; use a test strip to check levels (ideal is 150-400 ppm), add the product with jets running, circulate, and retest to maintain balance with chlorine, bromine, or other sanitizers.
What it does
- Prevents Corrosion & Etching: Low calcium hardness makes water aggressive, corroding metal jets, heaters, and etching acrylic surfaces.
- Reduces Foaming: Proper hardness helps prevent excessive foam.
- Protects Equipment: Extends the life of your spa by keeping water balanced and non-corrosive.
How to use
- Test Water: Use a test strip to find your current calcium hardness (ideal range: 150-400 ppm).
- Calculate Dose: Determine how much booster is needed based on your test results and spa volume.
- Add Product: With jets on high, slowly add the recommended amount of granular or liquid booster to the water.
- Circulate & Retest: Run the jets for a few hours, then retest and repeat if necessary.
Key features
- Compatibility: Works with chlorine, bromine, ozone, and biguanide systems.
- Types: Available in fast-dissolving granules or liquid formulas.
